Following the successful launch of WhatsApp payments in India, Mark Zuckerberg recently announced the launch of WhatsApp payments in Brazil. It will enable people to send and receive payments without leaving their chats.
With the earlier launch of catalog and other unique WhatsApp Business features, Payments in WhatsApp will offer more convenience and support to small businesses and entrepreneurs. It will enable more individuals to send and receive payments to their favorite businesses and loved ones.
WhatsApp is currently working with Cielo, the leading payment processor in Brazil, and would support all relevant debit and credit cards in conducting transactions. All payments on WhatsApp are facilitated by Facebook Pay, the official digital payment gateway of all apps under the Facebook family.
WhatsApp Payments would be free for individuals. Although, a small transaction fee will be charged for small businesses receiving payments from their customers. Businesses are assured of secured payment transactions, as either a fingerprint or a six-digits pin would be needed to authenticate transactions.
WhatsApp would be rolled out in the coming months in selected countries.
